Rating: 4.5/5
327 pages
2013
Publisher: W.W. Norton & Company
Source: Library book

Description: Science writer Mary Roach explores the human digestive system and gets answers to questions you probably never would have though to ask in the first place.

Review: This book is funny and educational, and I deducted half a star because its about poop.

Okay, its about more than poop, its about the whole digestive system. However, the parts about poop are the parts that stayed with me. It may just be because that's what the author talks about last, or it may just say something about me.

It isn't actually a gross book. The author does a good job of talking about inherently unpleasant things in a way that isn't explicit, yet still makes it clear what she's discussing, which is an impressive balancing act.

I'd actually recommend any of her five books, which all have a good mix of funny, approachable, and educational.
